What the algorithm looks at
Daily suggestions are generated from a fixed set of criteria, not a black box.
Every member receives daily match suggestions. The algorithm weighs your age range preferences, gender identity and preferences, how close you are geographically, how recently and how actively someone uses the platform, the relationship types you're each open to — casual, long-term, friendship and others — lifestyle habits such as drinking and smoking, specific interests and hobbies, and religious beliefs and moral compatibility.
For an international audience the interest fields do a lot of the work. Language exchange, expat meetups, intercultural friendships and intercultural love, working abroad, remote work, studying abroad, international cuisine, local customs and traditions, local festivals and events, travel, road trips and travelling with pets are all real profile fields.
The platform creates the opportunity. What happens after that is between the two of you — no algorithm has an opinion on chemistry.

Adds advanced search filters — city, distance, experience level, what someone is open to — members-only chat rooms, private group chats of up to 50 people, rewind on profiles you passed, the full list of everyone who likes you, and priority comment placement.
This is the tier for people who would rather search than be shown.
VIP+
Everything in VIP, focused on being seen.
Adds a curated pool of exclusive matches, priority placement for your messages and likes, boosted profile visibility to active members nearby, and top position in every match's daily stack. Super Match is available as a purchasable add-on.
Super Match delivers a highlighted message that sits first in the recipient's inbox and can be replied to directly.

Can I use ExpatFlirt without paying?
Yes. A Classic account is free and permanent. It includes a full profile, browsing, daily match suggestions, photos and status updates, comments on articles and posts, polls and quizzes, a limited number of messages per day, free ID verification, admin profile validation and badges. You can also read and reply to any message sent to you by a VIP or VIP+ member, so a paying member can always start a conversation with you.
What does VIP add?
VIP includes everything in Classic and removes the daily message limit entirely. It also unlocks advanced search filters for city, distance, experience level and what someone is open to, access to members-only chat rooms, private group chats of up to 50 people mixing VIP and free members, the ability to rewind a profile you passed on, a full list of everyone who likes you, and priority placement for your comments.

Super Match, a highlighted message that always appears first in the recipient's inbox, is available to VIP+ members as a purchasable add-on.
Do I have to submit ID to get verified?
No. There are three routes. Free ID verification uses a government document and gives you a visible badge. Video verification is a live check with a moderator that confirms identity without documents. Admin profile validation is a manual review by a team member, which gives you a validation badge without submitting sensitive identity documents at all.
What are badges and how do I get them?
Badges are earned through activity and are available on every tier, including free. They include Verified, Chatterbox, Heartthrob and Most Popular. They exist to signal that you are a real, active member worth replying to, which matters more on an international platform where the person reading your profile has no mutual friends to check you against.
